Poly National Open Mesh Floor

Part of out Poly National Range.   Totally compatible with both our wooden National hives and Poly National hive components.    Does not come with entrance block but you can use standard wooden ones.    Use your existing hive parts and take advantage of the polystyrene benefits:

its made from a very high density material, 100g/litre - upto 3 times stronger than what is used for packaging.
Its lightweight and durable.
Its insulation properties also makes it ideal as less bees are required to maintain the heat required for effective brood rearing, helps improve overwintering and early Spring buildup.


More and more beekeepers are convinced that the use of this type of floor is beneficial to the colony. 

Advantages:

Improved wintering - water vapour escapes easily through the floor - no need for top ventilation which wastes the colony's heat
No need for extra screens when moving bees
Reduction of varroa populations - mites which fall through the screen do not climb back up. 
Easy monitoring of mite populations - simply slide in the plastic drawer under the screen when required. Can be left on all year round. National size only.
