Placement Horizontally, well above ground, in a warm, sunny, south-facing spot. Against a wall or wooden fence is ideal, or under the eaves of a garden shed or outhouse or in a log pile. Ensure that, if suspended, the kit is secure enough not to be blown about. Do not place in fruit trees or shrubs: the bees dislike dappled shade.
In late March-early April, nest-seeking females of (Osmia rufa) will find the nests Take a look on mild days in early spring. You may see female mason bees investigating them.
